Club History

The Hupmobile Club was founded by the late Mr. Henry J. Miller in 1970 because he believed the Hupmobile was a great car and deserved a great club behind it. After overcoming many obstacles, the Hupmobile Club became incorporated in Rosemead, California, in December 1970. The club would later incorporate in the State of Virginia in 1993.

Initially, there were only a handful of members. However, due to the tireless efforts of Mr. Miller and a few others, the club grew rapidly from a small regional club to a worldwide organization of Hupmobile owners and enthusiasts. By the end of the second year, membership had grown to over 225 members. Each successive year membership continued to grow as more people heard about the club.

Model 20 Runabout

The Model 20 Hupmobile was produced from
1909 through 1912 with a total of 14,500 made.
The runabout was the only model available for the first two years, followed in 1911 by the 4-passenger touring, Coupe, and the Torpedo.

For the first five years, the Hupmobile Club was dedicated only to the preservation and restoration of Hupmobiles. In 1976, the club was expanded to include Hupp-Yeats and R.C.H. automobiles as these were automobile companies also started by Robert Hupp, the designer and namesake of the first Model 20. Over the years the club has continued to grow, with members joining from twenty countries covering five continents. No Hupmobiles have been found in Antarctica to date.

During it's history, the club has provided members a place to meet other owners of Hupmobiles through it's publications and services such as the Hupp HeraldParts Locator, and Club Roster. The club also provides it's membership with technical documents from the extensive library collection of original factory documents.
